The problem
A purple velvet sofa in a Seattle apartment. The seat cushions had water stains, which show up as lighter rings and patches on velvet. Under the seat cushions there was a lot of debris: crumbs and hair that had collected on the deck of the sofa.
What we did
- Took off the cushions and removed all the debris and hair from the deck and the corners.
- Treated the fabric with an enzyme cleaner.
- Extracted the sofa using an oxy rinse.
- Finished with grooming, brushing the velvet pile in one direction so it dries even and soft.
The whole job took about one hour.
The result
The water stains were gone, the deck under the cushions was clean, and the velvet dried with an even color and texture. The straight lines you see in the after photos are from the final grooming.
